A classic Italian fried mozzarella sandwich, crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside, perfect as a snack or appetizer.

Ingredients
10 items- MozzarellaSliced into 1 cm thick slices
- Sandwich BreadSandwich bread, crusts removed
- FlourFor coating
- EggBeaten
- BreadcrumbsBreadcrumbs
- SaltTo taste
- PepperTo taste
- OilFor frying, heated to 180°C
- Dried Tomatoes(optional) — Optional, sun-dried tomatoes
- Basil(optional) — Optional, fresh basil leaves
Method
- Slice mozzarella into 1 cm thick slices. Pat dry thoroughly to remove excess moisture.
- Season the mozzarella slices with salt and pepper.
- Place the mozzarella between two slices of sandwich bread. Optionally add sun-dried tomatoes or basil leaves.
- Press the sandwich firmly and trim off the crusts.
- Prepare three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten egg, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Coat the sandwich first in flour, then in egg, then in breadcrumbs. Repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating for a thicker crust.
- Heat oil to 180°C (350°F). Fry the sandwiches until golden brown on both sides.
- Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with a pinch of salt, and serve hot.
