Dishes mentioned
Penne al ragù di salsiccia toscana
This penne with Tuscan sausage ragù is steaming hot and smells incredible. The sauce is very nice, not too heavy but very, very tasty. The sausage is something different, especially when turned into ragù — an excellent pasta. I'd say these penne are something to kill for.
- Lasagna
Pici al ragù
These Pici, the fat spaghetti typical of Tuscany from Siena, smell absolutely amazing and are made with a very nice looking ragù sauce. Cooked al dente and very chunky, the ragù sauce is again perfect like with the previous pasta, and it's borderline spicy. The meat is almost melting in your mouth — very tasty. But if I compare it with those penne with Tuscan sausage ragù, those penne are something to kill for, though this is also an excellent pasta.
Arrosto Misto
This mixed arrosto has three types of meat: pork, veal, and standard beef. It's eaten with a piece of bread dunked in olive oil. The first cut is so tender and crumbly, practically disintegrating. Wow! This is another of those things that doesn't look special but once you try it there's a big wow effect. The olive oil, additional pepper and spices, and the arrosto make an amazing combination of flavors. The standard beef was tender and crumbly. The pork has a completely different texture, not as crumbly or melting, but still a very thin slice and very tasty. I saved the best for last — the veal has a pinkish color, the slices are so thin yet still juicy, and that pinkish color in the middle tells a lot. This arrosto misto is absolutely perfect food to finish your lunch.
