The story
Pyeongyang Salt Bread in Seoul’s Jongno District has earned a solid 4.5-star rating from ReTubeIt’s community, with creator Doobydobap calling it “a heartier, less greasy salt bread with great caramelization” in their *Complete Seoul Bakery Guide*. The bakery’s signature Classic Salt Bread leads the menu, alongside a Blueberry Salt Bread and the intriguingly named Paddington Salt Bread—each worth braving what Doobydobap describes as “the chaotic wait” for a taste of this local-spot favorite.
Despite the bustling, no-reservations queue, the payoff is clear: these salt breads offer a texture and depth that stand out even in Seoul’s trendy bakery scene. The caramelized crust and balanced richness make Pyeongyang Salt Bread a tourist-friendly yet authentic stop, cementing its reputation as a must-try for anyone exploring the city’s street-food culture.

The classic salt bread earns rapturous praise for its shatteringly crisp crust and pillowy interior. Reviewers describe the overall vibe as a humble, soul-warming bakery experience that feels like a well-kept secret.
“This is a very different style of salt bread compared to Jayeondo. It's much more heartier, heavier, and not as buttery. There's really nice caramelization evenly throughout. It looks like the new Bottega bag. When I hold it, it's very firm, almost like between a pretzel and a bagel. You can see where the stick of butter was because it's hollow inside. We waited outside in the rain for an hour. Their line system is all over the place. But the bread is good. I can see why people still go through the hassle. You get the crunchiness and it's not too overly buttery. Jayeondo is almost too greasy, but this is really nice with the nuttiness and the butter kind of just cooks out so it's not too saturated. I like the crust. It's really tasty. I give it a high 9 out of 10.”

Blueberry Salt Bread
This one is the same except it's stuffed with blueberry jam inside and outside has a blueberry glazing but still has that iconic salt on top. Damn, that was very good.
Paddington Salt Bread
The difference between this and the regular salt bread is that this one has a sticky sweet glazing on top. This one's stuffed with orange marmalade inside. Paddington is the bear who loves jam. My two favorites are the Paddington and the normal salt bread. Killer.
