The story
Slaps BBQ, a no-frills Kansas City staple with a 4.6-star rating, offers a classic barbecue experience that earns both praise and caveats. Tucked away in Kansas City, Kansas, this casual, takeout-friendly spot serves up a full roster of smoked meats, from ribs and turkey to burnt ends, pulled pork, and jalapeño cheddar sausage, alongside sides like hushpuppies and potato casserole with jalapeños.
Food reviewer Only Scrans, during his "48 Hours Eating Kansas City's BEST Food!" video, summed up the experience as "swings and roundabouts." While he declared the ribs and turkey excellent, he found the brisket "pretty bad compared to Texas style." For those prioritizing standout ribs and poultry over Texas-style brisket, Slaps delivers—but don't expect a home run across the board.

Jalapeno and Cheddar Sausage
That's so good.
Burnt Ends
A great looking burnt end. And it's a great tasting burnt end.
Brisket
The brisket was pretty bad. I hate to say this. I hate to be negative in a video, but I do have to maintain a level of honesty and transparency without on a place. The brisket was pretty bad. I really really like Texas brisket. I like the bark. I like the thickness. I like how it just melts in your mouth. This stuff is just like if you tried to slice Texas brisket that thin, it would just fall apart. That is how I think brisket should be and this just isn't that.
Turkey
The turkey was flipping brilliant.
